NCUA posts revised NCUSIF brochure
Dec. 13, 2006—NCUA has revised and posted on its Web site a 48-page brochure detailing federal share insurance coverage in effect under this year’s deposit and share insurance reform law.
The brochure, “Your Insured Funds”, notes the law’s designation of a “standard maximum share insurance amount,” currently set at $100,000, and the increased coverage for IRAs and Keoghs to $250,000. As noted in the document, IRA/Keoghs are covered to $250,000 separately from the member’s other accounts.
Coverdell Education Savings Accounts are combined with the member’s other share accounts, with these receiving aggregate coverage to $100,000. Roth IRAs are combined with other IRAs for meeting the $250,000 coverage limit on retirement accounts.
