Recently, there have been multiple "Phishing” scams that are initiated via email sent to both the general public and to some Visions members that appeared to be from Visions Federal Credit Union or NCUA or other credit union entity. This false email asked for the recipieto verify their account registration or credit card information. If the recipients proceeded to do so, the link directed them to a false website and asked for their Visions username or account number and password.
Do not follow (click on) any web link in an email message that is suspicious. Visions will never ask for any personal information such as credit card number or username and password from a link within an email message.
While we have heard from several members and nonmembers who correctly determined that they should not respond to any suspicious email, there may have been some members who did. If you received any email and did choose to respond with your confidential account information, please change your password immediately and contact the Visions Security Department at 607-786-2000, ext. 627 or 529.
Please be assured that this incident did not involve any breach of Visions’ member database or information systems. Visions takes the security of your account information very seriously and will continue to try to educate members of these third-party attempts to improperly obtain such information directly from our members. Members are reminded to review their accounts on a regular basis and to alert Visions if they see any unauthorized activity.
